Though the fig tree doesn’t flourish, nor fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive fails, the fields yield no food; the flocks are cut off from the fold, and there is no herd in the stalls: yet I will rejoice in Yahweh. I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!—— Habakkuk 3:17-18 (World English Bible)
Dearest Abba, Father, when I love You, I realize that I am not doing anything out of ordinary. I love You because You have loved me first. Your love for me is fathomless. You love me to the utter most. My love for You at best is imperfect. How can I ever repay You for all the goodness You have shown me? Thoughts about me rule Your heart even though I am nothing but a speck of dust and You are the King of the universe. I know this full well that no matter what comes my way You are always in control. Be it a storm, famine, sword, disease, or pestilence. Yahweh, it is You who form the light and create darkness. You make peace and create calamity. Through it all, You are always perfectly in control. You never take Your eyes off me. Hence I can always rest and be at peace and I can exult in You. Because You love me, You will even overturn the grave for me. Abba, I open my eyes and I see the power of Your love working mightily in my life even in the most hopeless situations. I indeed stand amazed at the magnitude of Your love for me. I surrender and lay my desires and intentions at Your feet. I pray that You keep me grafted to the true vine, i.e., Jesus Christ so that I may grow strong in Him seeking to do Your will in all things. Amen.
