Keep me close so that I can live a life that is pleasing to You

Verse of the Day

How amazing are the deeds of the Lord! All who delight in him should ponder them.– Psalm 111:2 (NLT)

Prayer

Dearest Father God, I come to You today casting my cares on You. I choose to believe Your Word and trust that You are working behind the scenes on my behalf. Lord, thank You for receiving me just as I am. Today I confess my sins to You and ask You to cleanse me. I choose to forgive others so that You can forgive me. Keep me close so that I can live a life that is pleasing to You.

Forgive me when I let the worldly things come between us, Lord. Material wealth is nice, but not if it means that I lose my relationship with You. Help me be satisfied with what I have, and keep my mind and my heart on You. Help us, Lord, to look for success in things that will last and, most of all, in pleasing you. May what we do this day — and how we do it — give you pleasure. There are times I seek my own glory rather than your glory. Forgive me for how often my desires show evidence of sin’s corruption. Lord, thank you for the momentary pleasure we receive when we finish a project or accomplish some major life goal. But, even more, thank you for the chance to share in your work, to make a difference in some small way in this world. Thank you for the opportunity we have to serve people through our work.

Help me, Lord, to seek after that which will last. May I seek first your kingdom, your righteousness and justice. May I seek to live for the praise of your glory in all I do. Keep me from being tempted to let material things and the pleasures of this world become my treasures. Give me a burning desire to store up treasures in my account in heaven by doing all I can to further Your Kingdom here on earth. I give You all the praise and glory. Amen

Bible Promise of the Day

Trust in Me, and do not be afraid of what others can do to you. God promises we can trust in Christ alone

In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me– (Psalm 56:11)

Prayer Quote of the day

Pray often rather than very long at a time. It is hard to be very long in prayer, and not slacken in our affections.
